CATASTROPHE AVERTED ?

Last night the IDF finally responded to Iranians missile strike of earlier this month on Israel, in what is being described as limited and restrained. In a statement IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said:

“I can now confirm that we have concluded the Israeli response to Iran’s attacks against Israel,” He further stated:

“We conducted targeted and precise strikes on military targets in Iran — thwarting immediate threats to the State of Israel. The Israel Defence Forces has fulfilled its mission,”

In response the Iranian Foreign Ministry released a statement saying, the Islamic Republic of Iran considers itself entitled and obliged to defend against acts of external aggression.

The Islamic Republic of Iran stresses the use of all material and spiritual capabilities of the Iranian nation to defend its vital security interests, while also being cognisant of its responsibilities for regional peace and security. It emphasizes the individual and collective responsibility of all regional countries to safeguard regional peace and stability and expresses gratitude to all peace-loving countries in the region and beyond who have condemned Israel’s aggressive actions and expressed their disgust over the regime’s warmongering posture.

Reading between the lines it seems that catastrophe has been averted and has saved face on both sides. Israel can say it has fulfilled its duty to retaliate, Iran can now show the world its restraint from further escalation. Obviously the rhetoric will continue on both sides but for now I think we will have a period of relative calm, at least until after the US elections. Flat Out News.
