Russia will soon start deploying its new Coalition-SV self-propelled artillery units to the front lines in Ukraine. Sergei Chemezov, the head of Rostec, announced in an interview with the state RIA news agency that the testing phase for the new Coalition-SV self-propelled artillery units has concluded, and their mass production is now underway.
Chemezov expressed, “I anticipate their presence on the battlefield in Ukraine soon because howitzers of this caliber are essential to gain an edge over Western artillery models in terms of firing range.” Earlier this month, Russia’s TASS state news agency reported the deployment of individual Coalition-SV howitzers to the frontline in Ukraine.
The howitzers, boasting a range of up to 70 kilometers (44 miles), are furnished with a contemporary 2A88 cannon featuring a caliber of 152 mm and a firing rate exceeding 10 rounds per minute. Additionally, they incorporate a state-of-the-art system for automating gun pointing, target selection, and navigation processes, as reported by TASS.
This Howitzer could decimate front line positions all the while remaining out of range of Ukrainian return fire. A game changer ? We will have to wait and see !
