Breaking. Houthis claim attack on MSC United commercial ship

On Tuesday, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, the Military Spokesman for Yemen’s Houthi forces, revealed on social media platform X that their troops had directed an attack on an MSC United commercial ship. The assault, executed with naval missiles, was initiated as a response to the ship’s crew rejecting calls from naval forces for the third time, despite repeated fiery warning messages.

The MSC United is a massive container ship operated by the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), one of the world’s largest shipping lines. Built in 2007, this vessel has a length of 366 meters and a maximum capacity of over 13,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units). It is part of MSC’s extensive fleet, contributing to the company’s significant presence in global shipping operations. The MSC United plays a crucial role in facilitating international trade and the transportation of goods across the world’s oceans.

Since 1978, the company has been owned by the Aponte family and has its headquarters in Switzerland.
