Active Defence, Ukraine’s new strategy.

We have been reporting in recent articles, our analysis that the US can see the war is all but lost and is seeking a more defensive posture in Ukraine. With funds drying up and a severe lack in munitions and military hardware forthcoming, the writing is on the wall.

The U.S. is reportedly developing a new strategy for Ukraine, shifting away from the unsuccessful forward push attempted in 2023 and pivoting toward a focus on frontline defence, as reported by the Washington Post. The adjustments are said to be a response to Kiev’s unsuccessful counteroffensive last year. A senior White House official mentioned, “it will be difficult for [Ukrainian forces] to try to mount the same kind of major push on all fronts that they tried to do last year.” The revised objective is now more modest, aiming to prevent Kiev from losing further ground to Moscow.

While the new approach suggests a focus on frontline defence, it doesn’t imply a passive stance, with the possibility of territorial changes in small cities and villages through what is described as a “swapping of territory,” according to the Washington Post’s unnamed source.

A negotiated solution would be the wise option but that is actually a strategy that neither the Biden Administration and the Kyiv regime definitely do not want. Most serious observers know that this war is unwinnable at this point. Any moves are merely delaying the inevitable.

Fiona Hill, a prominent Russia expert and former national security adviser in the White House, emphasized that Ukraine’s accomplishments can be attributed to significant military backing from European allies and other international partners. This is the real reason why this has lasted as long as it has.

Lets not forget the country is currently grappling with a pressing mobilization challenge. Ukraine’s military leaders have urged President Zelenskyy to conscript more than 500,000 new soldiers, considering the nation’s substantial losses and the extended deployment of troops for nearly two years without respite.

So this war of attrition looks set to continue, but with the military superiority across every metric on the battlefield in Russia’s favour, how long will this madness continue ? As previously reported, with waning support and a lack of resources, complete Ukrainian capitulation is the only logical outcome.

Then what becomes of Ukraine ? The vultures are already circling and this will be the subject of a future report.
